PITTSBURGH − July 10, 2024 – State Senator Katie Muth (D-Chester/Montgomery/Berks), chair of the Pennsylvania Senate Democratic Policy Committee, will join Senator Wayne Fontana (D-Allegheny) to co-host a public hearing Monday in Pittsburgh to highlight the issues with Pennsylvania’s property reassessment system. 

The hearing will be held Monday, July 15 at 1 p.m. in the Gold Room at the Allegheny County Courthouse (436 Grant St., Pittsburgh). The hearing will also accommodate virtual participation and anyone interested in participating via Zoom can click here to register

The hearing will feature three panels of discussion that will highlight the issues with Pennsylvania’s property reassessment system. According to statistics, 50 of Pennsylvania’s 67 counties have not done a reassessment in the past 15 years, the last one done in Allegheny County was in 2012.

Scheduled participants in the hearing include Renee Reynolds, Director, State Tax Equalization Board; Dr. Melissa Friez, Superintendent, Mt. Lebanon School District; Ira Weiss, Solicitor, Pittsburgh Public Schools; Mike Suley, Board Member, Allegheny County Board of Property Reassessment Appeals; Sharon DiPaolo, Partner, Siegel Jennings Co.; and John Petrack, Executive Vice President, Realtors Association of Metropolitan Pittsburgh.  

The hearing will also be live-streamed at SenatorMuth.com/Policy and on Senator Muth’s Facebook page.
